We just purchased this bar code scanner. It has a PS2 plug which means that it will plug into any keyboard plug. Laptops have these kinds of plugins so you can plug an external keyboard into them. This is where this scanner plugs into. Using a scanner like this with your laptop out in the barn means that you don't have to enter the data by hand, go to the screen in Stibbar that you're working on, and scan in the bar code on the cage label. POP, the data goes in. |

For example, you've just entered the nest box for a doe, scan her ear number from the bar code label that you printed out from Stibbar and you don't have to enter it. As you can see from the photo, it's small and compact. If you have a cart to push around, you can strap your laptop to it and have this in your pocket... the cord is fairly long. whip it out and scan, scan, scan all the way down the row. We paid $67.00 for this one including shipping. Just go onto Ebay and search the title for "symbol scanner PS2" Many of them will come up, choose the one you like the looks of. |
