Stibbar Professional & Palm Symbol Barcode Scanner
|
This is what a symbol scanner 1500 looks like. This scanner is exactly like a Palm but has the added capability of scanning bar codes which have been successfully added into Stibbar. See the two blue buttons at the top? That's what been added to the palm to get the scanning capabilities in. This particular scanner is not available new, it's running two megs of ram, 3.5 OS, and we got ours off of Ebay. The cost is anywhere from $80 - $150.00. The next one up from this looks like it and is called the 1550. It has 4 megs of ram and is OS 3.5 and costs a bit more. Then there are others put out by Symbol. They all run the Palm OS operating system. There are other manufacturers that do run the Palm OS but we don't have them so can't say what they are like. Any scanner that runs the Palm OS will work with Stibbar. Just be sure that it takes the 3.5 OS and has at least 2 megs of RAM. We recommend the Symbol due to it's great reputation. |

I have a Handspring Visor Prism Palm and aquired a Scanning device for it from Ebay. There is a slot in the back holds the scanning device. It will run Stibbar fine. The Handsprings are no longer supported, I bought this one new man-----y years ago. They are not as heavy duty and cannot be repaired as easily as the palm and symbol devices. But they are workable... if anyone has this device with the extra of the scanner, Stibbar will work for you. |

This scanner is by symbol also, it's an 1700/1800 series, has more ram and is faster. The scanner is built into it, and this one can also is found on ebay for around $200 - $500. Running Stibbar for Palm PDA on this scanner would work fantasticly. To get a perspective, they also fit right into your hand. The scanner adds about 1/2 inch to the top. To look at the new scanners, check out Symbol's website under products. Symbol gets pretty fancy with all their scanners, and some of them are quite expensive. |
