The needle moves in and out of a barrel that holds the ink.
As the needle moves it grabs a drop of ink and pushes it into the
2nd layer of skin. The barrel will hold enough ink for about 8
characters. Making a clean tattoo, one that will last for a verrrry
long time is the premise behind these tattooers. |
|
| 1st. Wipe, rub - the ear with rubbing alcohol getting rid
of excess oil and dead skin then let it dry for a couple
of seconds. |
|
| As the tattoo gun is turned on, dip it into the inkwell for a count
of 5 seconds and then start writing in the ear, just as you would
with a felt tip marker. You must lightly drag the barrel across the
ear, the needle is pumping very fast, pushing the ink 1/16" deep
into the skin. The barrel will not penetrate the ear, keeping the
needle
from going
through the ear. Use your index finger from your opposite hand, behind
the ear for a firm surface; and you will not get stuck. A leather thimble
is helpful to relieve anxity of possible sticks. |

Methods of holding the animal for tattooing |
|
Try laying the animal on it's back between your knees while
seated. If bending slightly over the animal while it's on it's
back still
doesn't make it stop squirming, wrap it in a towel or a sleeve
so that it's eyes are covered. Pull one ear out of a hole in the
sleeve
and do the tattoo. See the Bunny Bag that Stibbar has available.
Cover the eyes of a larger animal, they sometimes will calm down
just from that. These tattooers do not make alot of noise nor do
they vibrate alot. Use a piece of ice behind the ear to numb it a
bit. |
|
After tattooing, blot the excess ink with a water-dampened
paper towel. Touch up any parts you missed, cover the tattoo with
preperation H and or triple antibiotic to speed healing.
After doing one ear, you can move immediately onto the next animal.
If you feel that you don't have enough ink dip the barrel once
again, won't take as long this time to fill it. |
| This tattooer will stay turned on until you turn it off, so laying
it down while it's still running will not harm it, just make sure
that it's not at the edge of the table. The Tatt doesn't vibrate
very much, but you don't want to harm the needle by it accidently
falling. |
